Phase I Complete on First National Bank of Tremont - 8/30/2004 The Altman Charter-Company today announced the completion of the first phase of construction for First National Bank in Tremont, Illinois. Altman-Charter, based in St. Louis, specializes in the planning, design, and construction management of financial institutions. Construction began in April for the institution which has operated in the bedroom community of Peoria, Illinois since 1931. After being in the same building for more than 30 years, the addition and remodel is adding 4500 sf to the existing 8000 sf. “The design was driven by their desire to expand customer contact and provide additional office space while creating a new functional image in the community,” said Glenn Pauly, director of design for the Altman-Charter Company. Changes to the existing layout include expanding the tellers’ lobby, adding a drive-up canopy with ATM, expanding office space and reconfiguring the public entrance. The new entrance will incorporate a vaulted ceiling with a standing seam metal roof. The exterior design highlights glass windows surrounded by dark brick and EIFS (Exterior Insulated Finishing Sytem) materials. The sprawling one-story building will be capped by a sloping mansard roof with composition shingles. Altman-Charter is providing a phased-construction schedule to enable the bank to continue operations throughout the project. Construction is slated to begin in March of 2004 with a completion date in December of the same year.
